Certified wood

The use of certified wood shows our customers and interest groups that Isku, and the entire supply chain, are committed to sustainable forestry and legal use of wood materials. Through the PEFC certificate, we communicate to our customers and interest groups that we are responsible. Audited by an independent party, each link of the supply chain must separately demonstrate that the journey of the timber has been closely monitored. For us at Isku, this means that we have ensured the origin of each and every wooden armrest or table top ply, for example.

Of all timber delivered to Isku, over 80% is PEFC-certified. The rest is FSC-certified, or the origin has been ensured in some other way. In the future, we will strive to increase the share of PEFC-certified timber in our procurement. The certificate covers wood raw materials and components purchased for the production of furniture for homes and public spaces.

PEFC-certified products can be identified by the PEFC label on the product, price tag, product package or product-related documents. The label can be added to products that feature over 70% PEFC-certified wood. Granting of the certificate requires an audit by an independent party and confirmation that the tracking of the wood origin adheres to the requirements of the PEFC standard. What “independent” refers to here is that the inspection body is not related to parties in the supply chain, the certification system or its supporters. The realisation of the certification requirements is supervised by a certification company that the authorities have found independent and competent. Isku’s wood tracking system was audited by Bureau Veritas Finland.
