The modes of working are transforming rapidly and permanently – are we ready?

June 29, 2020. Written by Elise Tarvainen @ Elise Tarvainen

The past few months have brought us together to find a solution to the most emerging challenge of finding new ways and spaces to work. Both the recent research and the renewed practices of everyday life tell us that the future of work is under a major transformation. The core question is, how can we foster interaction and team collaboration without being physically too close to each other?

Every change is an opportunity. In an exceptional situation where changes can be rapid and permanent, many familiar things show up in a new light and the most important things crystallize. For us it has been focusing on responsibility in its broadest sense. This core value provides us with the basis for our everyday actions, and it is realized in everything we do: It’s about taking care of the safety and well-being of employees and customers. It’s about using pure raw materials with traceable origin. It’s about investing in Finnish know-how and research-based development to ensure the highest quality of products.

More than ever before, we now strive for safe and healthy environments. Today our experts together with our customers are seeking and co-creating novel solutions for the new needs of companies, educational institutions and healthcare. There is a call for smart spaces with easy-to-apply furnishing solutions that enable physical distancing without social isolation. Even the materials of contact surfaces are now under a microscope, and there we see the antimicrobial materials as a new trend in the fight against severe infection chains.

We are never ready. No solution is complete. The beauty of life – business life as well – is that every encounter is an opportunity to learn something new beyond what is known already. The challenges are global, so are the best solutions and practices. The finest ideas and greatest innovations are born in cross-organizational collaboration, through trial and errors.
