The World Expo is calling for Sustainability.

August 30, 2021. Written by Elise Tarvainen @ Elise Tarvainen

We are thrilled! Only 32 days and Expo 2020 Dubai will bring the world together for 6 months, starting from October 1, 2021. The subthemes of the Expo, Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability, are selected to inspire everyone to preserve and protect the planet, explore new frontiers and build a better future.

It is a great honor for us to join the prestigious 168-year history of World Expos again. The themes of the Dubai World Expo have a particular importance for us: ISKU is an active developer and forerunner of environmentally friendly and nature saving manufacturing.

For all who are visiting the upcoming World Expo, we would like to provide memorable experiences from Finland, Finnish nature and our journey of sustainability. Welcome to Snow Cape and Finland Majlis where eco-friendliness meets environmental and social responsibility!

ISKU’s story, which dates back to 1928, has its roots in northern nature, Finnish wood and Eino Vikström’s carpentry skills. Even today, the company operates on the same value base, taking responsibility for each other and the environment. To us, sustainable development comes naturally and responsible operations mean actions and value-driven choices. Sustainability is ingrained in everything we do. ISKU takes continuously actions to establish a lasting legacy by providing the future generation with safer and cleaner environment to grow up, study, work and thrive. This is what I could call sustainable responsibility. It’s also a commitment to humanity.

The major actions ISKU has taken for sustainability can be found at the Gallery of Achievements. The story of delivering the ISKU’s value proposition despite of the challenges of 2020 brought by the pandemic is documented in the recently released Responsibility Report 2020.

Demonstrating high-level corporate responsibility is neither space physics nor magic. It’s taking responsibility in both minor and major activities in all levels of the organization on daily basis. It’s about taking ownership of one’s own work and supporting the performance of colleagues.
